If you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas, you can go in style without breaking the bank. Also, you don’t have to cut out all the fun & excitement just because you’re cutting down on expenses. I’ve got a quick list of things that you can do to make sure that your Las Vegas vacation is a blast, while still remaining affordable.
Choose the correct season. Go during the off season, there’s still tons of attractions, but the hotels will charge you less because they’re trying to compete to bring in new guests. Check prices during the summer months, and you might be surprised what kind of deals you can get.
Travel at the right time. Airfare is significantly less if you choose to travel at the correct time. Choose an off day for the airline, sometime during the week. Don’t travel on the weekends, as those are the times that you will be charged max rate. Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday are going to be your best bet to find good airfare to Las Vegas.
Getting your airfare, hotel and transportation as a complete package can be one way that you can really kick in some savings. Often times the package deals are much cheaper than trying to hobble together a cheap vacation piece by piece. There are tons of companies out there competing to get your money on package deals, so shop around a bit to find some great prices.
The internet is your best friend when planning a vacation. There are so many resources out there that will help you get good deals on hotels, airfare and car rentals. Also, you can plan out the details, such as shows and attractions that you want to visit on the web. Again, there are deals abound, so make sure that you really dig into the resources that are available to you out there.
Ask for discount rates. There are tons of programs out there that allow you to get discounts on things such as plane tickets and hotel rooms. You may even find discounts on meals if you look hard enough. Talk to people about your memberships or frequent flier miles to see what they might offer you in the way of a discount on your expenditures.
See if you’re allowed to get one room for the entire family. Most hotels will do this and it’s much cheaper to get a room with two double beds than going for two with a queen sized in each. Some hotels will charge you per person extra in your room, but you’ll still come out ahead paying an extra $20 per head than getting a whole other room to house your rug rats.
Go to the expensive restaurants at lunch, not dinner. Usually you can find good lunch deals at some of the most notable restaurants in the city. This is a great way for you to get to say you’ve been to all of Las Vegas, and still not break the bank doing so.
Reconsider buying expensive souvenirs. These are some of the most costly expenditures that people come across on their Las Vegas vacation. Consider just living with the photos that you’ve taken as the memories are going to be worth more than a t-shirt or a key chain. If you have children, it may be hard to convince them that they don’t want a t-shirt, so at least reconsider buying a souvenir at every stop, and limit each kid to a certain number, making them choose the ones that they want the most.
Check out tourist magazines. If you’ve ever been on vacation, you know these mags offer a lot of little coupons. If you’ve already planned out your activities, then you might just find that you can get an extra discount in some of these free magazines. If you don’t know what you want to do or if you come across something that offers a better price on a comparable attraction, you may end up changing your plans, and spontaneity can really spice up your vacation.
Don’t order room service. Dining out usually will save you some money. Because restaurants have to compete for your business, you may find that the prices outside your hotel are much much cheaper than what room service will cost you. Never rely on room service when you have an entire cities chef’s at your disposal!
Don’t overdo the gambling. If you’re planning on hitting the casino’s, which most do, don’t over-do it. Set a budget and stick to it rigidly. Get your spouse involved on the budget if you think it’s going to be a problem for you. Whatever you do, don’t lose the mortgage and car payments on the table, & don’t use the plane tickets as part of a loan!
Following these simple tips, you’ll find that you can cut a lot of corners and save hundred on your Las Vegas vacation. Good luck!
