EPOS stands for Electronic Point of Sale and is modern cash registers. Its usually used by retail and hospitality businesses in their POS stations as staff reacts well to them as they are similar to normal keyboards. However sometimes, outlets like takeaways may use keyboards designed for their specific needs.

In order for the systems to work correctly its must to have a screen for the cashier to view. The EPOS system is computer based and a screen is connected to it, software within the systems allows it to perform function like scanning barcodes, adding up totals etc… The screen is the display point for the worker to work from; this tells them the totals to uniform the customer, the product that is being scanned etc. EPOS is used to manage the process of selling items; it is done by a sales person having an accessible electronic interface to help them.

They are fully electronic and are hooked up to a computer, it is the computer software that also makes up the EPOS System as a whole, the software tells the screen what to display, it puts the buttons in the places they are in and adds functions like; Print receipt, Check Stock, Scan Product and various other functions. These systems are an essential part of a retail business and without them the company would not be able to function correctly.

EPOS Touch Screen systems are now the preferred choice for shops, pubs and most places that have a checkout system, they look smarter and have a lot more functions, they can also be used by the customers themselves. Most companies are upgrading to touch screens as their offer better functionality which is a must in a world where technology is always changing.

EPOS systems allow different modes of internal communication networks. For a bigger network, you must invest in powerful wireless terminals that can function without fail. Although EPOS networks are used by all kinds of shops and retail outlets, it became more popular with hospitality industry. You will find an EPOS installed at 90% of the restaurants, hotels, bars, and resorts across the country. This is because EPOS and its functionalities are best suited for the comprehensive business environment prevalent at such places.

Variation In The Prices Of Digital Camera

December 14th, 2009

Variation in the Prices of Digital Camera

Digital cameras are one of the best introductions in the photography industry. A wide variety is been introduced in the market to deliver enhanced picture quality. It is a technology that records pictures and video recordings using electronic image sensors composed of electrodes that are specifically arranged to measure the intensity of light.

This innovation in the industry has created a new rage with its great technology. Its like a mini Polaroid that enables to view the pictures and recordings immediately after clicking. With this there are options to either retain the picture or delete the picture. Some digicams even offer an option to edit or modify the image depending on the likes and desires of the viewer. Like the traditional camera, these do not involve the use of film or reel and have ample of space to store hundreds of pictures.

Some of the most popular manufacturers of digicam are Samsung, Nikon, Canon, Sony, Kodak, Olympus, Casio, Fujifilm, Konica, and Panasonic. All these leading brands have their own unique attributes in their range of cameras. The key characteristics in these cameras are configuration, lens, digital zoom, and optical zoom. Though all the brands have these attributes the quality and configuration makes the prices differ variably.

The configurations of the camera, the quality of the lens, intensity of zoom function, and even the brand attributes to a specified price of the camera. Configuration decides the picture quality and is defined by the resolution of the camera in terms of megapixels. Higher the number of pixels better is the image quality and higher the price. Too high resolution will distort the image and hence there should be a restricted resolution in order to have a crystal clear image. Therefore, optimum configuration is very essential.

Quality of lens is another factor that affects the price of the camera. Lenses are of different types with different specifications. Focal length and magnification power are important considerations when deciding on the quality of the lens. Then the zoom function also plays a crucial role in determining the price. High digital zoom give clear pictures from long distances whereas low digital zoom does not give distorted images when taken from far distances. With this significance of the zoom factor, obviously the price of the digicam will be higher if the zoom is high.

Apart from these factors attributing to the variation in price, the brand name also makes a difference. Furthermore, these days’ people are looking for lighter and better models. Hence, manufacturers are innovating designs of low weight camera with maximum features and appropriate configuration. In such a case, the design factor contributes to the variation in prices of digital camera.

Car Dvd Player Mysteries: What Is Atsc?

December 08th, 2009

Car DVD Player Mysteries: What Is ATSC?

Today’s car DVD players are a big step up from the players of just a couple of years ago. They can do things, in other words, that the basic DVD players of just several years ago couldn’t come close to doing.

In North America, these players make use of a digital video signal different from signals broadcast in other parts of the world, making answering the question “Car DVD player mysteries: What is ATSC?” somewhat important.

ATSC is the abbreviation of “Advanced Television Systems Committee.” In short, it is the standard for digital broadcasts that replaced the old NTSC standards for analog television and video broadcasts.

In June of 2009, the United States became the first country in North America to stop broadcasting analog signals and shift to completely to the digital ATSC signals. Canada will follow suit in 2011 and Mexico by 2021.

Basically, most devices equipped to receive and then display digital television signals ?especially mobile devices like car DVD players ?will feature the ATSC method and industry standard for doing so.

Analog television signals have almost completely disappeared these days in North America, though Mexico will lag behind for another decade, and ATSC as the standard was agreed upon not too long ago, though it was first developed in the early 1990s.

The ancestor to ATSC is actually the HDTV (“high definition television”) standard that many of us have grown used to over the last decade.

It is a big improvement over HDTV standards, as a matter of fact, in the way it can produce wide screen images and even surround sound using certain Dolby Digital sound improvement technologies. In effect, it is being used to sharpen picture and sound in even small screen devices such as car DVD players.

The way that it can do this in something like a car DVD player’s display screen is because there are a number of “subchannels” that can be supported by the device that makes use of ATSC technology tuners. Additionally, these new standards can also be thought of as the ways in which the common MPEG video streaming format is controlled by a device with ATSC.

In effect, ATSC controls the digital video broadcast stream by “modulating” the digital signal so that a great deal of information can be sent along at once and then decoded quickly at the other end (the car DVD player, for example).

Around the world, there are several other standards for digital video broadcast of television signals. The most common and widespread is DVB-T, which is found widely in Europe and the British Commonwealth in addition to several Asian and South American countries, so keep that in mind before buying a player.

It is easy enough to figure out if the device that is going to be purchased has ATSC as its primary decoding system by looking at the box or going to the ATSC website and looking at the map of where in the world ATSC is the standard.

For North America, especially the United States and Canada, more and more of these devices are being produced, so it is a sure bet that any new device will feature this broadcast decoding tuner. So then; for those considering going for one of these players, knowing a bit about how they decode signals can come in handy, it seems.

Buying A Digicam? Features To Compare Among Various Digital Camera Models

December 08th, 2009

Buying a Digicam? Features to Compare among Various Digital Camera Models

It helps to learn about the most commonly used terms when describing a digital camera’s features. Most often these features determine the various capabilities and price of a digital camera. Before taking a buying decision, it helps to compare various digital camera models available using their feature list.

Automatic Mode — A Shooting Mode setting that sets the focus, scene and white-balance automatically. The digital camera takes the best decision depending on the shooting scene. This is good for starters. Once you gain experience with your digital camera, you will know which settings to use for different situations.

Burst Mode or Continuous Capture Mode — a succession of pictures taken at quickly timed intervals with a single press of the shutter button.

Compression — the ability of a digital camera to compact the digital data, images and text. Usually pictures taken result in a huge file size. The digital camera needs to compress the picture size to accommodate further shots and easy transfer of files.

Digital Zoom — Cropping and magnifying the parts of the image, particularly the center part.

JPEG — a universal file format supported by almost all digital imaging devices and software, such as computers, mobiles, offset printing machines etc. The digicam needs to support this format in order to share the images with others.

Lag time — the time difference between the time of pressing the shutter button press and the actual image capture time.

LCD — (Liquid-Crystal Display) is a small screen on a digital camera for to preview, view, edit, crop images.

Lens — Similar to the lens in a normal camera. Some digital cameras come with optical zoom lenses apart from digital zoom that defined above.

Megabyte — (MB) Measures 1024 Kilobytes of memory, refers to the digital storage space required to store an image. Based on your digital camera’s internal or extended memory you can roughly calculate how many pictures you can take with your available memory. For example, if each image is 1 MB, with a 16 MB internal memory, you can take up to 16 pictures. You can take further pictures, once you transferred or deleted earlier images.

Pixels — Tiny points of color that make up digital pictures. Pixels further define digital resolution. One million pixels are called one mega-pixel. The more mega pixels you have the more quality pictures you can take. Pictures captured with a high resolution cameras do not look pale or diluted when they are viewed in a big screen or printed in large. The more pixels resolution a digital camera has, the more clearly and quality pictures we can take.

RGB — Refers to Red, Green, Blue colors used on computers to derive all other colors

Storage catalog / Extended Memory Card — the removable storage device that is used to store and transfer images, comparable to film, but highly smaller. Normally a digital camera’s internal memory is quite limited. You have to transfer files to a computer frequently. If you have an external memory card, you can take many pictures before transferring to a computer. It’s also called a digital camera mind’s eye card.

Viewfinder — same as the normal camera, where you can look at the scene.

White Balance – White balancing adjusts the camera settings to compensate for the type of light conditions before a shot. (You may be operating a digital camera in various lighting conditions such as daylight, fluorescent, incandescent etc.) These lighting conditions result in different shades in a picture. White balancing neutrals these conditions and makes them look normal to the human eye.

Review : Vizio Vf550m 55-inch Full Hd 1080p Lcd Hdtv

December 08th, 2009

Review : VIZIO VF550M 55-Inch Full HD 1080p LCD HDTV

VIZIO has been the United States number one manufacturer for quite some time. VIZIO doesn’t just offer your high quality HDTV, but it is significantly cheaper as compared with its competitor. These facts certainly capture the eyes of the customer, especially the one with low budget. VIZIO VF550M 55-Inch Full HD 1080p is another LCD HDTV made by the renowned manufacturer. It has 55-inch LCD, which certainly helps you enjoying your favorite tv shows or movies, the LCD HDTV definitely changes the way consumers experience home theater. Like most HDTVs today, the VF550M comes with a piano black bezel finish which looks sleek by any standard.

Being capable of rendering Full HD contents, the product has up to 9 inputs for high definition with 5 being the most commonly used HDMI port. This is truly incredible and would definitely fit even to the most strenuous systems. In fact, with 5 HDMI port, there will be little chance that the consumer would be in need of a port extension. Viewing the HDTV can be done in a whopping 178° angle meaning that it can be watched from almost every angle except at extreme ones. Picture quality is some of the best as well as the Vizio VF550M is professionally engineered to be on par with some of the best brands in the market.

One advantage of this television lies in its SRS Audio Technology. The SRS TruSurround HD creates high quality sounds that are great to listen to. Not only that, The SRS TruVolume on the other hand eliminates irregular sounds. This means there will be no sudden burst of noise in case of a commercial. It will give users a peace of mind without having to get a hold of the remote every now and then.

The 120Hz refresh rate allows the user to experience motion pictures moving at a smoother pace as compared with HDTVs of a lower refresh rate. However, this is only great while watching sports where every detail needs to be present. Although in movies, this high refresh rate might give a soap opera effect which is quite common in HDTVs with similar refresh rate. Not to worry as this can be cured by changing the settings available. If the user is an avid sports fan, the feature would be great. If not, it is best to turn it off.

One of important information that you should know is that this product is compliance with the Energy Star standard and at the same time surpasses the regulation by more than 15%, awesome. Why pay more where you can pay less for your utility bill? Thanks to this LCD HDTV with its technology, you can save more money. The VIZIO VF550M 55-Inch Full HD 1080p is a great television with a huge screen estate. If you are craving for high definition viewing, this tv will help you satisfy your need. Like other VIZIO product, the VF550M is a lot cheaper as compared with other established manufacturers. However, with this being said, consumers can be sure that they are not getting a sub-par product but instead comparable to most of the higher priced products.

I hope this VIZIO VF550M 55-Inch Full HD 1080p LCD HDTV Review gives you clear and unbias information that you need. For other Vizio LCD Review, you can get it here:

Which Companies Provide The Best Juicer Models On The Market?

December 08th, 2009

Which Companies Provide the Best Juicer Models on the Market?

The final product is a matter of opinion, as some people like their juice pulpy, just as many people like their juice free from pulp. It largely depends on the point of view of the user, whether or not the best juicer contains stainless steel or a plastic filtration system, for example. However, when it comes to quality, there are certain companies that have a greater reputation for releasing high quality models with durable exteriors and 1, 5, even lifetime warranties. Based on my personal experience, the following companies are the most reliable companies within the juicing market.

1) Power Juicer – Power juicer is one of those companies that provide excellence in nearly every single model they have ever released. What is even more impressive is how Power Juicer commonly sends off their models with a Lifetime manufacturer warranty, which no company ever does unless they are confident that their models will outlast the warranty. Beyond the warranty, however, the best juicer provided by this particular company includes patented Juice Extraction Technology, capable of extracting up to 30% more juice from fruits and veggies. This is made possible through a stainless steel blade, operating from an internal, High Performance motor, churning at 3,600 rpm. This model is by far the best juicer available within this company’s product line.

2) Breville – Breville provides the best juicer product lines when it is concerning pulp / seed filtration. Equipped with a Micro Mesh stainless steel filtration system, the pulp, after extraction, is actually dry and ready for cleaning. Many of the customers who purchased Breville products have said that they have provided the best juicer possible, in the way of pulp extraction. These models also commonly come with a 1 to 5 year warranty – not as good as the lifetime warranty, but still extensive enough that, even if something were to go wrong, you would still get more than your money’s worth.

3) Omega – Omega may not seem like the best juicer on the market, but there is a reason behind their madness. Omega products commonly come with only an 80 watt internal motor, which, when compared to the previous two companies, automatically seems like a waste of time and money. Not so! Omega has become really well known for being extremely strategic with their designs, meaning that, even though they come with such a slow motor, the juice extraction process only takes seconds longer than normal, and, as a result of it being a little bit slower, it produces less froth than all of the other companies put together. 5 to 10 year warranties are more common with Omega products.

The purpose of this article is to share the author’s personal experiences in finding the best juicer on the market. Get more information by visiting the Juicer-Guide.com.

Canon Pc-160 – Petite And Portable Copy Machine

December 08th, 2009

Canon PC-160 – Petite and Portable Copy Machine

There are certain applications where it would be helpful if one could simply fold up their copy machine and take it with them, be it on a business endeavor or for copying an immobile object. Thanks to Canon’s PC, or Personal Copier, series, now you can do just that. The Canon PC-160 is a unit small enough to be called a portable copy machine, it even comes with a useful carrying handle, and fold up paper trays.

Its petite footprint and size are also a factor in the Canon PC-160’s mobility. With dimensions of a mere 14.1″ x 17.3″ x 4.5″ when folded up, and a length of 32 inches when unfolded, the unit is compact enough to fit in a backpack, or to be carried like a briefcase. Sporting a curb weight of only 18.7 pounds, you won’t break your back toting it around either, and, just because the unit is small doesn’t mean it is completely without power or features.

This analog copy machine has virtually zero warm up time, thanks to Canon’s rapid fusing system. However, time to first copy is a sluggish 22 seconds, and after that the unit can only output at a slow rate of 4 copies per minute. With speeds running this slow, the Canon PC-160 should definitely only be considered for businesses or individual users with very light copy demands. The real draw of the unit itself is the price tag. At such an affordable price, the PC-160 is designed with the person in mind who requires occasional copying capabilities, but has no use for the high powered multifunctional units on the market today.

Without digital copy technology, there is no on board memory storage in this analog only unit, which results in certain limitations. Multiple copies must be made one page at a time, though in quantities from 1 to 100. Also, features such as 2 on 1 via reduction are impossible, as the Canon PC-160 has no way to store two pages at once in its memory.

User friendly features implemented include an automatic shut off mode designed to conserve power consumption by automatically turning the main power off after about four and a half minutes of non use, though the Canon PC-160’s energy usage is very low to begin with, with a 650 W maximum power consumption, which easily qualifies this unit as Energy Star compliant. Exposure control is also adjustable manually, or can be set to automatic.

Due to the size of the unit, the paper tray can hold a very limited 50 total sheets of paper when using 20 lb. weight. The limited hardware also operates exclusively with paper thicknesses ranging from 17 to 32 lb weights, making the use of transparencies and card stock impossible. There is also no USB port, or any other type of connectability and, with no expandability options whatsoever, the unit is strictly a stand alone copier.

The uses for the Canon PC-160 become more and more limited as multifunctional all in one units become more popular. Still, for the user who requires a light, portable copy machine, this hardware is a unique and rare find.
